Arizona Assurance Financial Aid Website

To be considered for the 2012-2013 Arizona Assurance Scholars Program you must meet the following criteria:

  • Arizona Resident
  • Family income (wages or adjusted gross income) of $42,400 or below and be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant
  • Unweighted cumulative high school GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale)*
  • Submit application for admission and all required supporting materials to the University of Arizona by March 1st
  • Complete the FAFSA by March 1st (UA code is 001083).
    You can complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA any time after January 1, 2012. UA encourages you to estimate tax information on your FAFSA, if necessary, to ensure that you are an on-time applicant.
  • Dependent student
  • Enroll full-time at UA directly after high school

* Unweighted, cumulative high school GPA is calculated by the UA Office of Admissions at the time of applying

 

Steps to be considered for the Arizona Assurance Scholars Program

Step One: Submit complete applications for admissions and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st. The FAFSA must be free of any errors.

 

Step Two: If you meet all the eligibility criteria listed above, you will be invited to complete and submit the required College Board PROFILE application** by March 31st to be considered for Arizona Assurance. In addition, if requested, submit all requested tax and other documentation as directed by May 1st.

Notifications to those selected as Arizona Assurance Scholars will begin once all requested information is received.

Renewal Criteria for Continuing Arizona Assurance Scholars

  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1st every year, FAFSA errors must be cleared by May 1st
  • Must remain an Arizona resident
  • Enroll in 12 units at UA per semester
  • Complete 24 units each academic year
  • Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress
  • Must be Federal Pell Grant eligible
  • Complete Arizona Assurance Success Plan Program

Cost of Attendance and Assistance

Arizona Assurance will fund the estimated cost of tuition, fees, room and food, and books, through grants and scholarships and by working approximately 10-12 hours a week. Other expenses are not included in Arizona Assurance, nor are the costs of special programs such as study abroad. See our cost of attendance page for more information on specific costs. The Arizona Assurance Program will not fund any family contribution as calculated by the FAFSA.
