1. What is New Start Summer Program?
New Start Summer Program is a six-week summer bridge program designed to help first-year freshman succeed in the transition from high school to university life. The program assists students in the areas of academics, residence life, orientation and extracurricular activities to help prepare participants to become well-rounded university students.  For more information, visit http://transitions.arizona.edu/newstart (top)

2. Can I get Financial Aid?
Yes! Everyone participating in the program must complete the 2011-2012 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.gov.  This application will determine if the student can receive any financial assistance for the summer program. Students should also complete 2012-2013 FAFSA for the upcoming academic year. (top)

3. Do I need my parents’ info for the FAFSA?
Most students do need to provide their parents’ information on the FAFSA. When you complete the application there will be a series of questions that determine if you need to provide their information. The application will then ask to provide their information or not, based on your answers to those questions. (top)

4. I was offered a grant, how do I accept it?
You don’t have to accept grants. Grants are gift aid and we assume that students want free money! You just need to check your UAccess account frequently to make sure we don’t need any additional information from you. (top)

5. I was offered aid for the New Start Summer Program, will it reduce my aid next year?

The application for next year is separate from the application for the summer program. If you receive financial aid for the New Start Summer Program it is unlikely that it will affect your aid for next year. (top)

6. How do I apply?
