Federal Direct Loans for 2011-2012

 

Federal student loans can only be offered via the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program with the U.S. Department of Education acting as the lender.

 

Always use your legal name and social security number as it appears on your social security card for all loan documents!

  • You will need to allow pop-ups on your computer to complete the loan process.
  • Parents must use the website below (not UAccess) if they choose to accept the Federal Direct Parent Plus Loan.
  • November 25, 2011 is the priority deadline for requesting federal loan for students graduating in December 2011.
  • May 4, 2012 is the priority deadline for requesting federal loans for a student attending both Fall and Spring terms.
  • Federal loans requested after the above priority deadlines may not be processed. 
  • Graduate degree seeking students must be enrolled for at least half-time with graduate level courses to receive either graduate level loan funds or loan limits at the graduate level.
  • Graduate Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for any federal student loan funds.

 
Undergraduate Students

  • Do not have outstanding "To Do" items in UAccess
  • Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards with financial aid
  • Have been awarded Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans

Graduate/Professional Students

 

2011-2012 student loans will be available in Mid-July for students who:

  • Do not have outstanding “To Do” items in UAccess
  • Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards with financial aid
  • Have been awarded Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans and/or Federal Direct GradPLUS Loans

Parents

 

2011-2012 Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loan school certifications will be sent to the U. S. Department of Education for parents whose students:

  • Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards with financial aid
  • Have been awarded Federal Direct Plus Loans


2011-2012 Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loans
Available Mid-June

How much PLUS can I afford?

 

Perkins Loan

 

2011-2012 Perkins loans will be available in July for students who:

  • Do not have outstanding “To Do” items in UAccess
  • Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards with financial aid
  • Have been awarded Federal Perkins Loans

Perkins loan are very limited funds are subject to be canceled from your account and not reinstated if you do not accept the loan by November 1, 2011.

Other Federal, State or University Education Loans

 

Other educational loans also require the following items to be completed before you can accept the funds:

  • Do not have outstanding “To Do” items in UAccess
  • Meet the satisfactory academic progress standards with financial aid
  • Have been awarded the applicable Federal, State or University Loans 

Other Federal, State or University Educational Loan programs

 

Private Educational

Private Educational Loans are private lender loans and are not part of the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program. These are credit-based loans which can be requested when your other aid is not sufficient to cover your educational expenses. A cosigner is generally required to borrow a Private Educational Loan.
