UA Veterans' Reintegration and Education Project (http://drc.arizona.edu/veterans-reintegration-education/) - The Veterans Reintegration and Education Project is a Congressionally-directed grant that seeks to develop a research-based, replicable model to inform higher education on various programs, services, and strategies that contribute to inclusive an campus environment accessible to student veterans, many of whom will have disabilities. This project uses a multifaceted approach to understand the impact of disability within the student veterans’ community and implications for higher education.
- Policies for Students Without a High School Diploma or Equivalent
UA does not require a high school diploma or equivalent for admission.
- Nondiscrimination Statement
The University of Arizona is committed to creating and maintaining an environment free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation that is unlawful or prohibited by University policy. The University prohibits discrimination, including harassment and retaliation, by University employees, students, contractors, or agents of the University and by anyone participating in a University sponsored activity against an individual based on a protected classification. Protected classification includes race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or other protected category. The University also prohibits retaliation because an individual has engaged in a protected activity.
The University will take prompt and appropriate action to: (1) thoroughly investigate complaints under this policy; and (2) prevent, correct and, if necessary, discipline individuals who engage in behavior that violates this policy in accordance with University policies. All members of the University community are responsible for participating in creating a campus environment free from all forms of prohibited discrimination and for cooperating with University officials who investigate allegations of policy violations.
 This policy supersedes the University’s Sexual Harassment Policy (2000).
 For the purposes of this policy, “sexual orientation” means an individual’s heterosexuality, homosexuality, or bisexuality, whether the orientation is real or perceived.
 For the purposes of this policy, “gender identity” means an individual’s actual or perceived gender, including an individual’s self-image, appearance, expression, or behavior, whether or not that self-image, appearance, expression, or behavior is different from that traditionally associated with the individual’s sex at birth as being either female or male.
 Any such disciplinary action shall be imposed in accordance with the Classified Staff Human Resources Policy Manual, University Handbook for Appointed Personnel, Student Code of Conduct, Arizona Board of Regents’ Policy Manual, or any other applicable process.

Important note for prospective students: If you are considering an academic program that leads to professional licensure in your state (i.e. Nursing, Education), it is highly recommended that you first seek guidance from the appropriate licensing agency in your home state before beginning an academic program located outside your state
IX. Student Compliant Process
Students with complaints or concerns are encouraged to first utilize the University of Arizona’s internal complaint or review policies. Undergraduates may contact the Dean of Students Office, and graduate students may follow the Graduate College Grievance Policy. If the issue cannot be resolved internally, students may also file a complaint with the appropriate state agency within your current state of residence.

Tuition and fees are based on a student’s academic career and residency status. The Office of the Bursar has a Tuition and Fees calculator at http://www.bursar.arizona.edu/students/fees/index.asp.
The Estimated Cost of Attendance lists the average resident and nonresident expenses a student is likely to incur during an academic year (fall and spring semesters) at The University of Arizona. The non-tuition figures were derived from surveys conducted among students in these two different living situations. A commuter student is someone who attends The University of Arizona while residing in his/her parents' home.

- Privacy of Education Records
The University of Arizona endorses and seeks to comply with all provisions of the "Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974,"(FERPA) as amended, and all pertinent regulations. The purpose of this legislation was and is to afford students certain rights with regard to their respective education records. In essences, these rights are: (1) the right to inspect and review education records, (2) the opportunity to challenge the contents of education records, and (3) the right to exercise some control over the disclosure of information from education records.

The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) requires disclosure of athletic program participation rates and financial support data, demonstrating the school’s commitment to providing equitable athletic opportunities for men and women students. The College Access Challenge Last Stretch Scholarship (CAC Last Stretch) is a need-based scholarship designed to assist college students who have completed at least 60 college credit hours to achieve their baccalaureate degree at any regionally or nationally accredited institution. Eligible students must have substantial financial need (Pell Grant eligible) as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students must also be a resident of Arizona for at least the previous 12 months at the time of application completion and must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at least half-time. - How Students Apply for Aid and How Aid Eligibility is Determined
Students apply for financial aid from the University of Arizona by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov. If the student has financial need, UA awards a combination of need based grants and federal loans. The deadline to apply is March 1.
- How UA Distributes Aid Among Students
The University of Arizona awards federal grants and loans based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA. University grants are awarded based on financial need as determined by the FAFSA and the availability of funds. Scholarships are awarded based on specific eligibility requirements, see http://www.financialaid.arizona.edu/scholarships.
- How and When Financial Aid is Delivered
Freshmen students are mailed a financial aid award letter. Continuing students are notified via email directing them to UAccess where they can view their financial aid award letter. Funds are disbursed to the student’s Bursar account at the beginning of each term provided that all requirements are completed.
- Terms and Conditions of Employment that is Part of the Financial Aid Package
Federal Work Study is a federal financial aid program that provides part-time jobs for undergraduate students. Information on finding a job and employment rules and regulations are outlined at http://www.financialaid.arizona.edu/workstudy.
- Criteria for Measuring Satisfactory Academic Progress
The University of Arizona monitors undergraduate and graduate students after every term for successful completion of SAP standards. UA uses quantitative and qualitative standards to measure SAP. - How a Student Who Has Failed to Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress May Reestablish Eligibility for Financial Aid
A student who loses federal and institutional aid eligibility because he or she is not meeting SAP standards may regain eligibility in one of the following ways:
- By successfully appealing loss of eligibility. To appeal, a student must submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal Form with supporting documentation. That form provides a non-exhaustive list of circumstances that may give rise to an appeal.
- By completing one semester using his or her own resources at UA with at least half-time enrollment (6 units undergraduate/5 units graduate). Courses taken must advance student towards obtaining a degree and/or graduation. The student must submit a Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal Form at the end of the term, after the grades have been posted by the Registrar's office onto a student's official record.

Federal regulations and Institutional policy require that the following aid programs be subject to the repayment calculation if the student did not attend 60% of the term:

- Availability of Federal Student Aid for Study-Abroad Programs
Students are eligible for federal aid while studying abroad. In addition to completing a FAFSA, students must also complete a Study Abroad Financial Aid Worksheet. Information on travel grants can be found at http://global.arizona.edu/study-abroad.
- Loan Counseling and Repayment
All first-time borrowers of Federal Direct Loans and Federal Perkins Loans must complete Loan Entrance Counseling at http://studentloans.gov.
Depending on the type of loans, students may be required to complete two exit counseling sessions – one for Federal Direct Loans and one for Federal Perkins or Nursing Loans. - Obtaining a Deferment or Forbearance for a Federal Education Loan
Under certain circumstances, students can receive periods of deferment or forbearance that allow them to postpone loan repayments. Loans that are already in default are not eligible for a deferment or forbearance. Information on eligibility can be found at http://studentaid.ed.gov/repay-loans/deferment-forbearance.
- Private Education Loans
Private Educational Loans are private lender loans and are not part of the William D. Ford Direct Loan Program. These loans have different loan eligibility requirements and terms (repayment, interest rate, etc.). - Scholarship Fraud
According to the Federal Trade Commission, perpetrators of financial aid fraud often use the following lines to sell their scholarship services; students should avoid any scholarship service or web site that says the following:
- "This scholarship is guaranteed or your money back."
- "You can't get this information anywhere else."
- "I just need your credit card or bank account number to hold this scholarship."
- "We'll do all the work."
- "This scholarship will cost some money."
- "You've been selected by a 'national foundation' to receive a scholarship" or "You're a finalist" in a contest you never entered.

The College Scholarship Fraud Prevention Act passed by Congress in 2000 enhances protection against fraud in student financial assistance by establishing stricter sentencing guidelines for criminal financial aid fraud.
