2012-2013 Federal Direct Loans

Note: 2013-2014 Federal Direct Loans will not be available for acceptance until mid-July.

Browser pop-ups must be enabled in order to complete the loan process.

Students and parents must use their legal name and social security number as it appears on their social security card for all loan documents.

Parents must use the website below (not UAccess) if they choose to accept the Federal Direct Parent PLUS loan.

Guest Access is a “must have” for parents intending to borrow the Federal Direct Parent PLUS loan.

All disbursed aid is divided into two equal disbursements, paid to the student half in the fall term and half in the spring term.

 

Important Dates: Federal loans requested after these priority deadlines may not be processed.

  • May 4, 2013 is the priority deadline for requesting federal loans for a student attending both falls and spring terms (2012-2013).
  • August 4, 2013 is the priority deadline for requesting federal loans for a student attending summer (Summer -2013).
  • August 15, 2013 is the deadline to have WEB Refund set-up for direct deposit of financial aid.
  • November 25, 2013 is the priority deadline for requesting federal loans for students graduating in December 2013.
  • May 4, 2014 is the priority deadline for requesting federal loans(2013-2014) for a student attending both fall and spring terms.

Freshmen and Undergraduate Students

2012-2013 student loans will be available in July for students who:
2012-2013 Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans
  • Undergraduate degree seeking students must be enrolled in undergraduate level courses to receive federal student loans. (at least 6 units as half-time)
  • Graduate Non-degree seeking students are not eligible for federal student loans

Graduate/Professional Students

2012-2013 Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans

2012-2013 student loans will be available in July for students who:

  • Have been awarded Federal Direct Unsubsidized loans
  • Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards for financial aid
  • Do not have outstanding "To Do" items in UAccess
  • Graduate degree seeking students must be enrolled at least half time (5 units) in graduate level courses to receive federal student loans.
  • Graduate non-degree seeking students are not eligible for federal student loan funds.
2012-2013 Federal Direct Grad PLUS (Credit check is required)

Parents

2012-2013 Federal Direct Parent PLUS Loans (Credit check is required)


Available early July for parents whose student(s):

  • Have been awarded the Federal Direct Parent PLUS loan
  • Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards for financial aid
  • Do not have outstanding "To Do" items in UAccess

UA will not send Parent PLUS loans  for credit check until July 10th
Parent(s) with adverse credit will be denied. See Protect your credit for adverse credit Information.

How much Parent PLUS Loan can a parent afford?

Perkins Loan

2012-2013 Federal Perkins Loans

2012-2013 Perkins loans will be available in July for students who:

  • Have been awarded the Federal Perkins Loan
  • Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards for financial aid
  • Do not have outstanding "To Do" items in UAccess

Perkins loans are very limited funds and are subject to be canceled from your financial aid awards and not reinstated if you do not accept the loan by November 1, 2012

Other Federal, State or University Education Loans

2012-2013 Other Federal, State, or University Educational Loans

Other  loans will be available in July for students who:

  • Have been awarded the applicable federal, state or university loans
  • Meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress standards for financial aid
  • Do not have outstanding "To Do" items in UAccess

Private Educational Loans

Private Educational Loans are not part of the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan Program. These are credit-based loans which can be requested when other aid is not sufficient to cover all educational expenses. A co-signer is always recommended for undergraduate borrowers
