Financial Information for Military Members

There is a great deal of financial assistance available to military members and their dependants.  Before borrowing loans to pay for your education, be sure to explore these options. A great deal of information can be found in the linked PDF files below:
U.S. Military Handbooks

Montgomery GI Bill and other programs
The US Department of Veterans Affairs administers several benefit programs including the Montgomery GI Bill.  For General information about Active Duty & Reserve GI Bill programs including information on eligibility, how to apply, programs covered by the GI Bill & payment information visit You can also get information from The Veterans Services Office at The University of Arizona. 

Tuition Assistance
The Armed Forces offers soldiers, sailors, marines, guardsman, and airmen several programs to support their education goals including up to 100% Tuition Assistance for college courses taken during off-duty hours.

Federal Financial Aid
All current and past military members can also apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This may make you eligible for grants and/or loans which may be used for your education or personal expenses while attending college.
