Selection
Awards are given on a first come, first served basis to those who qualify as long as there are remaining funds.
- Awards are based on financial need as determined by filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Offers are non-negotiable and are not increased to match offers from other institutions.
- Awards are not offered to students admitted for spring semesters.
- Awards are for undergraduate engineering studies only.
Availability Four consecutive years (eight semesters total) for fall and spring semesters only, based on financial need and academic year renewal requirements. This award is not available for use in University of Arizona (Arizona) Online programs.
Application A completed Arizona Admission Application for Fall 2020 and a 2020-2021 FAFSA submitted to Arizona, serve as the application for this award.
Deadline Admitted by May 1, 2020
Eligibility
- Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Students must be admitted to the College of Engineering.
- The award must be used beginning Fall 2020 semester.
Renewal Criteria
- Must demonstrate financial need each academic year with the corresponding years' FAFSA
- Must be in good academic standing (for example a 2.00 GPA or above)
- Must maintain full-time status (12 units) during the fall and spring semesters
- Must remain in a major within the College of Engineering at the beginning of each academic year
How the award is applied
- The award will release in two equal disbursements (fall and spring semesters) to a Bursar's student account approximately ten days before classes begin once the student is enrolled full-time (12+ units per term) at the University of Arizona.
- This award may be reduced or canceled if enrollment changes to less than 12 units per semester.
- This is intended to be applied toward the Engineering Differential Tuition charges for each eligible fall and spring semester.
National Student Exchange (NSE) & Study Abroad This cash award can be used for NSE and University of Arizona Study Abroad programs.
Withdrawal Policy
If a student withdraws on or after the first day of classes begin, the student forfeits that semester of award eligibility. This award may be reviewed for reinstatement in future semesters. However, the semester(s) in which your aid was lost are still counted against your total eligibility. This award cannot be extended past the 8 semesters of eligibility. University Grant
Click or enter to reveal information below Click or enter to hide information belowThe University Grant award is an institutional grant designed to assist first time, undergraduate, Arizona Resident students with the cost of tuition at the University of Arizona. Students must also demonstrate certain financial need, as calculated by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Application
The FAFSA must be completed each year by the University of Arizona’s priority FAFSA filing deadline – March 1st.
In addition to the FAFSA, newly admitted students (Freshman, Transfer and Readmits) must also submit a completed University of Arizona (Arizona) Admission Application for the fall semester by the University of Arizona’s priority FAFSA filing deadline – March 1st.
The University Grant award can be awarded for up to 8 total semesters, based upon the general eligibility criteria listed below.
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 University of Arizona credits for each semester (fall & spring)
- Complete your FAFSA every year by March 1st
- Meet minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) guidelines, available https://financialaid.arizona.edu/policies/sap.

Silver and Sage

The Silver & Sage Award was given to a select group of students starting Fall 2016 to assist them with the cost of a 4-year degree plan at the University of Arizona.
The Silver & Sage Award is renewable for 8 total semesters, beginning Fall 2016 based upon the renewal criteria below:
- Complete Fall 2016 courses
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 University of Arizona credits for each consecutive fall and spring semester
- Maintain a minimum 2.00 cumulative University of Arizona GPA
- Complete your FAFSA every year by March 1st.
- Meet minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards.
- Not applicable for use in the summer semester or with any study abroad programs.
Wildcat Opportunity Grant
Click or enter to reveal information below Click or enter to hide information belowThe Wildcat Opportunity Grant is a highly competitive undergraduate grant offered to a select number of students from the state of Hawaii and Alaska in Fall 2017 and Fall 2018 semesters. These students demonstrated financial need and were attending college for the first time immediately after high school graduation.
- Award offers and values were based on high school merits including your 6th semester core unweighted high school GPA (4.0 scale).
- Students selected for this grant received an offer letter once all completed admissions application materials have been submitted before the deadline.
- Offers are non-negotiable and are not increased to match offers from other institutions and remain the same as the initial offer for continuing students, even if a student improves their University of Arizona GPA.
- Awards were not offered to students admitted for spring.
- Awards are for undergraduate studies only.
Availability Four consecutive years (eight semesters total) for fall and spring semesters only, based on academic year renewal requirements. This award is not available for use in University of Arizona Online programs.
Application A completed University of Arizona Admission Application for fall semester immediately following high school graduation serves as the application for this award.
Deadline Completed application by May 1 of student’s senior year in high school.
Eligibility
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need.
- Must be classified as a non-Arizona* resident for tuition purposes.
- Students must be pursuing a first Bachelor's Degree for Undergraduate studies.
- Verify your lawful presence as described under Arizona's Proposition 300.
Semesters without lawful presence verified will be lost and counted against the grant’s total eight semesters. - The award must be used beginning fall semester immediately following high school graduation.
Renewal Criteria
Students must meet the renewal requirements by the conclusion of the academic year (fall, winter, spring and summer semesters) in order to receive the grant for the next academic year.
- Enroll in a minimum of 12 University of Arizona credits for each consecutive fall and spring semester
- Maintain a minimum 2.00 cumulative University of Arizona GPA
- Complete your FAFSA every year by March 1st.
- Meet minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards.
Multiple Awards and Tuition Programs
- The Achievement Award and Arizona Excellence Award may be combined with the Wildcat Opportunity Grant.
*Residency Change
This merit award was offered based on non-Arizona residence status during the student's freshman year. If during the eight semesters of eligibility the student's residency changes, the student will no longer qualify for this award.
How the award is applied
- The award will disburse to a Bursar's student account approximately ten days before classes begin, once the student's lawful presence has been verified and the student is enrolled full-time (12+ units per term) at the . Students are strongly encouraged to complete enough University of Arizon units each academic year to remain on track to graduate within four years, the maximum period this award covers.
- The total award amount is for the academic year which is evenly split between the fall and spring semesters. Students who graduate in December are not eligible to receive the full academic year amount for one semester.
