2025-2026 FAFSA Data Appeal

If there has been a significant change to you or your family's circumstances and the financial information on your FAFSA form is no longer reflective of your current situation, you may be eligible to complete a FAFSA Data Appeal.

The information on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form helps determine what types of financial aid you are eligible. Your 2025-2026 financial aid offer is based on your 2025-2026 FAFSA form, which uses 2023 tax information. However, if you or your family's circumstances no longer reflect the information reported your 2025-2026 FAFSA from, you may benefit from submitting a FAFSA Data Appeal to our office.

If approved, the information on your FAFSA form may be updated, which could affect your calculated Student Aid Index (SAI) and eligibility for financial aid, such as the Federal Pell Grant. Your appeal may be applied to one of two timeframes, either:

  • the 12 calendar months prior to the semester you are first enrolled within the 2025-2026 academic year, or
  • the current 2025-2026 academic year (July 1, 2025 - June 30, 2026)

To ensure your appeal can be reviewed in a timely manner, we encourage you to first review the information on this page. Submitting an incomplete appeal will delay the processing time of your appeal.

Step One: Gather Documentation

To verify the information stated on your appeal, you will be required to submit supporting documentation for our review. The type of information you submit will vary, depending on your circumstance.

Other Things to Consider

  • Any changes to your financial aid offer will be contingent on the type of funds available, eligibility policies and regulations.
  • We cannot decrease your income due to market losses or credit payments from consumer debt..
  • It is important that you do not make financial decisions based on the assumption that this appeal will increase the amount of financial aid you have been offered.
  • We recommend you use your current financial aid offer to plan for your educational expenses until you have received an updated financial aid offer.

We encourage you to submit your completed appeal as soon as possible. Processing times may vary depending on the time of year and volume of requests. To avoid delays, please monitor your university email in case additional information is requested after your initial submission.
