Campus Change Policy

Campus Change Policy

There are a variety of factors to consider when considering a campus change. While you are a Wildcat at all campuses, your financial aid offer may look different at each one.

Once you make the decision to change your Arizona campus, your financial aid will be re-evaluated to determine how the campus change impacts your financial aid. During this evaluation, we will adjust your cost of attendance and determine if any of the financial aid you were initially offered needs to be canceled or reduced. Changing your Arizona campus may result in our office canceling aid that was already disbursed to you for the semester, which could cause a balance that will be your responsibility to pay.

Incoming Arizona Students

  • If you are an incoming student who has not started their first semester at the University of Arizona, please contact the admissions office at the campus you intend to move to. At the time of your admission, the campus change process is initiated by these offices.
  • We encourage students to speak with your admissions recruiter and to consider how a campus change will affect other areas of student life such as:
    • Changes in your housing situation in relation to your campus
    • How meal plan and parking charges are impacted by this campus change
  • Have you reviewed the chart below and FAQ/More information section of this webpage to get an idea of what financial aid changes could take place as a result of a campus change?
  • Keep in mind that if your campus change occurs prior to the start of your first term, any tuition merit scholarship that was originally offered in your admission acceptance letter will be forfeited and not reinstated if you decide to later attend the Main campus.

Current Arizona Students

  • We encourage students to speak with your Academic Advisor and to consider how a campus change will affect other areas of student life such as:
    • Changes in your housing situation in relation to your campus
    • How meal plan and parking charges are impacted by this campus change
  • Has any of your financial aid already been released to your student account for the semester? Your disbursed financial aid may need to be reduced and/or canceled if your eligibility changes during a campus change. This can cause a balance that you will be responsible for paying.
  • Have you reviewed the chart below and FAQ/More information section of this webpage to get an idea of what financial aid changes could take place as a result of a campus change?

FAQs

  1. We highly encourage you to review this website thoroughly so you understand the impact the campus change will have on your financial aid offer.
  2. If you have any clarification questions on the above, contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA).
  3. Contact your admissions recruiter (incoming students) or academic advisor (current students) to further discuss how this change may impact your academics.
  4. Once you have considered the impact to both your financial aid offer and your academics, initiate your campus change with either your admissions recruiter or your academic advisor.

Yes, however, since a campus change impacts so many aspects of student life, students should carefully consider the effects before making a decision.

It is very important to consider ahead of time, the impact each campus change has on your financial aid offer.

For example, students who originally were admitted to Main campus, who have been awarded certain institutional grants such as the Arizona Promise Grant, Arizona Native Scholars or the Pell Pledge Grant, and campus change to a non-Main campus, then later change back to Main campus, forfeit the grant award as these grants cannot be reinstated.

The review time varies throughout the year as it is reviewed by multiple departments, in addition to OSFA. If there has been a change to your financial aid offer after the review process is complete, you will be notified via your University of Arizona Catmail account. You should also keep an eye on your financial aid summary in your UAccess Student Center.

Each campus has a different cost associated with it. You can find the cost of each campus on the Bursar Office website.

  • Switching to the Arizona Online campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance, which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive.
  • Switching to the Arizona Online campus will also result in the cancellation of any institutional grants including (but not limited to):
    • Arizona Promise Grant
    • Arizona Native Scholars Grant
    • Pell Pledge Grant
    • University Grant
    • Arizona Assurance
    • Achievement Award
  • Switching to the Arizona Online campus will also result in the cancellation of any tuition merit scholarships including (but not limited to):
    • Bridge Tuition Award
    • Phi Theta Kappa Tuition Award
    • Transfer Tuition Scholarship
    • Global Wildcat Transfer Tuition Award
    • Global Wildcat First-Year Tuition Award
    • Arizona Recognition/Excellence/Distinction Award
    • Wildcat Recognition/Excellence/Distinction Award

Also keep in mind:

  • If your campus change occurs during continued semesters of merit aid eligibility at your current campus and you are meeting the renewal requirements for the merit aid offered at that campus (for example, a Main campus Transfer Tuition Award), you will be reevaluated to maintain the scholarship at your new campus. You will then be subject to the award requirements pertaining to your new campus, including minimum number of units required for disbursements, scholarship award amounts and renewal criteria.
  • Institutional grants cannot be reinstated with a future campus change back to an eligible campus as you have forfeited your eligibility with your initial campus change to Arizona Online.
  • Institutional merit tuition scholarships may be reinstated as long as you initiated your first campus change after having enrolled and attended Main campus for at least one semester and you continue to meet renewal requirements and have remaining semesters of total eligibility
  • All terms away from Main campus will count against the tuition scholarship’s total semesters of eligibility.

  • Switching to the Global Direct campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance, which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive.
  • Switching to the Global Direct campus will also result in the cancellation of any tuition merit scholarships including (but not limited to):
    • Global Wildcat Transfer Tuition Award
    • Global Wildcat First-Year Tuition Award

Also keep in mind:

  • Institutional merit tuition scholarships may be reinstated as long as you initiated your first campus change after having enrolled and attended Main campus for at least one semester and you continue to meet renewal requirements and have remaining semesters of total eligibility.
  • All terms away from Main campus will count against the tuition scholarship’s total semesters of eligibility.
    • Note, students admitted to Main campus who initiate a campus change at the time of admission to Global Direct campus may study at the Global Direct campus for up to 2 continuous semesters without it impacting their total semesters eligibility count.

Switching to Main campus may look different for students who were previously enrolled at Main campus and students who have never enrolled at Main campus.

Regardless of whether you had previously been enrolled on Main campus you can expect:

  • Switching to the Main campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive.
  • If your campus change occurs during continued semesters of merit aid eligibility at your current campus, and you are meeting the renewal requirements for the merit aid offered at that campus (for example, an Online Transfer Tuition Award), you will be reevaluated to maintain the scholarship at your new campus. You will then be subject to the award requirements pertaining to your new campus, including minimum number of units required for disbursements, scholarship award amounts and renewal criteria.

If you were originally enrolled in a non-Main campus and are now campus changing to Main, you will be evaluated for University Grant and Arizona Native Scholars Grant eligibility only.

If you were originally enrolled in the Main campus and were a recipient of either the Arizona Assurance Grant, Arizona Promise Grant, Pell Pledge Grant or Achievement Award, then did a campus change to a non-Main campus, you are not eligible to have either of those grants reinstated upon your return to Main campus. As per the terms and conditions for these awards, you forfeited these awards when you initiated your first campus change out of Main campus.
