Campus Change Policy

Are you thinking of moving from one University of Arizona campus location to another? There are a variety of factors to consider when changing your academic campus. While you are a Wildcat at all campuses, your financial aid offer may look different at each one.  

Once you make the decision to change your Arizona campus, your financial aid offer will be re-evaluated for any eligibility changes. During this evaluation, we will adjust your cost of attendance and determine if any of the financial aid you were initially offered needs to be canceled or reduced. 

We encourage students to speak with your academic advisor and to consider how a campus change will affect other areas of student life such as:

Common examples of financial aid impact from a campus change:

  • Institutional Merit Tuition Scholarships - If you are moving to Arizona Online or Global, you will most likely lose your eligibility for institutional merit tuition scholarships. .
  • Institutional Grants and Awards - If you are moving to Arizona Online, you will lose your eligibility for institutional grant aid including the University Grant, Arizona Assurance or the Achievement Award.
  • Other Aid - Any campus change that results in a reduction to the cost of attendance may mean your other financial aid will be reduced or canceled. This could include Federal Work Study and Federal Loans you and/or your parent accepted.

While these are the most common examples of a large financial aid impact, it is important to review the FAQs below to better understand how a change you are considering may affect your financial aid.

Switching to the Arizona Online campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance, which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive.

Switching to the Arizona Online campus will also result in the cancellation of any institutional financial aid, to include the University Grant, Achievement Award, Arizona Assurance, and most Merit Tuition Scholarships (i.e., Arizona Tuition Awards).

Switching to the Global campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive.

Switching to the Global campus will result in the cancellation of any Merit Tuition Scholarships (i.e., Global Wildcat Awards).

Switching to the Main campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive.

If you were previously in a different campus and your institutional aid (including merit and need-based grant aid) was cancelled due to a campus change, your aid may be reinstated if you are still meeting eligibility and renewal requirements. OSFA will automatically review you for any aid that can be reinstated.

Switching to an Arizona Near Your Network campus will result in a change to your estimated Cost of Attendance which can impact the amount and type of financial aid that you can receive. For financial aid purposes, all Distance campus students (Chandler, Douglas, Phoenix, etc.) receive the same financial aid type of packaging including the estimated Cost of Attendance and institutional aid eligibility

Switching to an Arizona Near Your Network campus (including Sierra Vista) will result in the cancellation of some institutional aid, including Pell Pledge Grant, Arizona Assurance and the Achievement Award. 

Merit aid can be retained at the Distance campus but it is possible that the award amount could be reduced as a result of the change to your tuition rate.

Yes, however, since a campus change impacts so many aspects of student life, students should carefully consider the effects before making a decision.

A campus change request is reviewed by multiple departments. Your financial aid is the last part to be updated in a campus change and you will receive an email from our office if your financial aid has been updated.
