Federal Government Shutdown:
Due to the federal government shutdown, the IRS mail-in and online tax transcript request process is unavailable. Students and parents may still use IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT) via the FAFSA; however, a planned IRS DRT system outage is scheduled January 12 (6am - noon) for critical system maintenance.
If you and/or your parent are not able to use IRS DRT to transfer tax data into your FAFSA, signed copies of 2016 Income Tax Return forms 1040/1040A/1040EZ (submitted to the IRS or other tax authority) are acceptable documentation for the 2018-2019 Verification review.
Note, there is no impact or delay to Spring 2019 financial aid disbursements. Most students (over 24,000 students) have received their Spring 2019 financial aid disbursements as aid began to release Thursday, January 3rd and continues nightly.
Updates on the Government Shutdown and its impact on Federal Student Aid can be found here.
