Selection Criteria

The following list provides basic information regarding each UA Merit Tuition Award. Most scholarship awards have multiple eligibility requirements, so be sure to read the details carefully. Only the highest scores from a single test attempt will be considered.

Resident Wildcat Awards Based on GPA and Test Scores

Use the following Color Key to determine which Tuition Award you qualify for based on your ACT/SAT scores and your 6th semester core high school GPA.

Resident Wildcat Awards:

Awards listed above are the minimums based on test scores and core GPA. GPA calculated is based on 6th semester core unweighted high school GPA (4.0 scale). To be eligible, students must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and be classified as an Arizona resident for tuition purposes.

  • Students must complete the UA Fall 2019 admission application by May 1, 2019 in order to be considered.
  • Students should submit an official ACT or SAT score from the testing agency for consideration.
  • Students interested in a higher scholarship opportunity must submit SAT (Math + Verbal) or ACT test scores by May 1, 2019 to be considered for our top Wildcat Excellence Award.
  • Students are automatically awarded the higher dollar value Wildcat Excellence award in which they qualify to receive, which replaces the lower award offer.
  • Students must submit their official 8th semester transcript for verification.
  • Please see 2019-2020 terms and conditions for full eligibility and renewal criteria.

Home Schooled Students:

Incoming freshmen who are home schooled will be evaluated for UA merit aid (Wildcat and Arizona awards) based on portfolio/course work and ACT or SAT (Math + Verbal) test scores submitted by the admission deadline.

Arizona merit tuition awards are not available for use in University of Arizona Online programs.

All financial aid awards are divided into two equal disbursements paid to the student, half in the fall term and half in the spring term, unless otherwise noted.
