Appeals

Financial Aid Appeals

Every student's experience is different and may warrant an appeal.

Whatever your financial situation is we’ll support you along your journey to earning a degree at the University of Arizona. There are many circumstances that may have an impact on the financial aid you were offered.

Merit Scholarship Appeal

Students who did not meet the renewal requirements for their merit tuition scholarships due to extenuating circumstances may submit a Merit Tuition Scholarship Appeal.

Arizona Assurance Appeal

Students who did not meet the renewal requirements for the Arizona Assurance grant for continued funding or students who were not selected for Arizona Assurance due to extenuating circumstances may submit an Arizona Assurance Appeal.

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal

Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) standards to remain eligible for financial aid. If an extenuating circumstance prevented you from maintaining these standards, you may submit a SAP appeal.

General Appeal (GAP)

Students who have experienced extenuating circumstances that directly impacted their financial aid offer have the option to appeal based on those circumstances through submission of a General Appeal (GAP).

Special Circumstances Appeals

If there is a significant change to the financial information on your FAFSA or your expenses are higher than average, you may be eligible to complete a Family Contribution Appeal or Cost of Attendance Appeal.

Unusual Circumstances Appeal

Student support systems come in all shapes and sizes. Students who have experienced unusual circumstances with their parent(s), including abandonment and abuse, may be eligible to complete a Dependency Override (DO) appeal.

Appeal Procedures for Student-Athletes

When athletic institutional aid has been reduced, canceled, or not renewed, the student-athlete may choose to formally appeal.
