FAQ - How can I help resolve my overaward?

Question
How can I help resolve my overaward?
Answer

The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) will review each overaward individually and will first attempt to resolve the overaward without reducing or canceling any aid. Certain charges on a Bursar’s student account can be added to a student's Cost of Attendance (COA), including tuition differential charges, campus health charges and program fees. Oftentimes, aid that has not yet disbursed to a student's Bursar account and/or refunded to the student will be reduced or canceled.

If the overaward is not able to be resolved by OSFA, a COA Appeal is offered, if appropriate. The student will be notified via a UAccess Student Center To Do item that a COA Appeal has been requested.

If a student receives an updated financial aid offer after an overaward has been resolved by reducing and/or canceling previously received financial aid funds, the student can request a COA Appeal Form if they feel they have expenses that are higher than the standard COA and would like to be re-evaluated for aid to be reinstated. To request a COA Appeal, students must contact our office directly. For more information please visit COA Appeal.
