FAQ - I disagree with who the FAFSA says my contributor(s) should be, what are my options?

Question
I disagree with who the FAFSA says my contributor(s) should be, what are my options?
Answer

Unfortunately, unless you are experiencing unusual circumstances or qualify for provisional independence as a result of homelessness or being at risk of homelessness there is no way to appeal who your required contributor(s) are. Students whose parents refuse to provide consent will be given the opportunity to indicate they would like to receive only a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
