FAQ - How can my parents file the FAFSA form if they aren’t U.S. citizens and filed foreign taxes?

Question
How can my parents file the FAFSA form if they aren’t U.S. citizens and filed foreign taxes?
Answer
  • Contributors who are not U.S. citizens are able to create their own studentaid.gov account which they will use to provide consent and sign the FAFSA form. If the individual does not have an SSN or ITIN, they will be directed through the knowledge-based identity authentication process.
  • Contributors who filed foreign taxes will need to manually report their converted tax information on the FAFSA form, using the exchange rate as of the day the FAFSA form is filed.
