FAQ - Can I appeal if I got less gift aid (grants and/or scholarships) than last year?

Question
Can I appeal if I got less gift aid (grants and/or scholarships) than last year?
Answer

In general, this is not something you can appeal since eligibility for need-based financial aid, including the Federal Pell Grant, is determined each year. If your eligibility for specific types of financial aid changed between this academic year and next year, it could be due to a change in your or your contributor’s (parent or spouse) financial information provided on the FAFSA or a change in how eligibility is now determined.

However, if you and/or your family have experienced special circumstances such as loss of income, large medical bills, etc. or there are other circumstances that are unique to your situation, you may have an option to appeal. Please reach out to the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid to learn more about what appeal options are available.
