Types of Aid: Stamps Scholarship

Stamps Scholarship

Scholarship Information

The University of Arizona is one of the newest Stamps partner institutions, with our first group of Stamps Scholars being awarded in Fall 2020. In addition to significant financial support, Stamps Scholars enjoy social and cohort-building events and activities throughout the year. These exceptional students join a national community of Scholars and Scholar Alumni across the globe. The Stamps Scholarship is one of the largest scholarship awards available to Arizona students.

The scholarship award covers the estimated cost of attendance, as it pertains to the individual student circumstance. The scholarship also includes an additional $16,000 in enrichment funds over four years that can be used towards expenses such as:

  • Study abroad programs
  • Research or other internships
  • Academic or co-curricular conferences
  • Leadership training

Selection

Stamps Scholarship applicants undergo a holistic review process by a Selection Committee comprised of University of Arizona Admissions and Franke Honors College leadership, faculty & staff members.  Academic excellence, leadership, service and an understanding of the Stamps Scholar program are key factors in the selection of semifinalists, finalists, nominees and alternates.

Students advancing to the Semifinalist and Finalist stage will have the option for a virtual interview with Selection Committee members.  Nominees and Alternates will be interviewed by Strive Foundation representatives (Stamps Scholarship funders), and upon the Strive Foundation’s approval, nominees will be selected as Stamps Scholars.

Multiple Awards & Tuition Programs

  • Although this award can be used with other financial aid offers and departmental stipends/private cash awards, they are combined with the Stamps award only up to the cost of attendance.
  • The cost of attendance award is calculated based on the student’s financial aid, scholarship portfolio and individual circumstances (housing option, etc).

How the Award is Applied

  • This scholarship will be applied in two disbursements for the Fall and Spring semesters to your Bursar account.
  • This award will be adjusted if the Qualified Tuition Reduction (QTR, a benefit for faculty and staff) or other scholarships, or tuition reduction programs (or waivers) are utilized. Students offered multiple awards designated for base tuition, cannot receive more than 100% of base tuition. For more information about tuition rates, please visit the Bursar's website.
  • Scholarship recipients that graduate early and immediately enter a University of Arizona graduate program; professional program; early assurance program or accelerated Master’s program may be eligible to receive the scholarship in their fourth year.

Withdrawal Process

If a student withdraws on or after the first day of classes begin, the student forfeits that semester of scholarship eligibility. This scholarship may be reviewed for reinstatement in future semesters. However, that semester in which your scholarship(s) were lost are still counted against your total eligibility. This scholarship cannot be extended past the original semesters of eligibility.

Students who complete their undergraduate program early can use their 4th year eligibility if they will be graduating early and immediately entering a graduate or professional program at UA.

If you have other financial aid, you must review the withdrawal policy here.
