Achievement Award

Achievement Award

This is a need-based, institutional grant award reserved for Non-Arizona Residents seeking their First Bachelor's Degree at the University of Arizona Main Campus.

Achievement Award Invitation and Selection Process for 2024-2025

Fall 2024 incoming first-year and transfer students who meet certain criteria based on information provided on their 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be invited to be considered for the Achievement Award Grant.

Invited students will receive an email with further information via their official University of Arizona email account (CatMail). Based on information from your 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), some students may be required to submit the Non-FAFSA Parent Resource Evaluation, which will be used to further determine eligibility for Achievement Award Grant funding. If required, please review and follow the instructions within the email carefully. These instructions will also be viewable in your To Do List on UAccess Student Center and in your Next Steps Center.

Not all invited students will be required to complete this step. Review the email you receive from the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) for details.

If required, the deadline to submit the Non-FAFSA Parent Resource Evaluation Poll is June 1, 2024.

Achievement Award Selections

OSFA will begin to notify students who are selected to receive the Achievement Award Grant in Summer 2024. This is delayed as a result of the delayed 2024-2025 FAFSA opening. Undergraduate students who are not selected to receive the Achievement Award Grant for their incoming first year cannot be considered for the award in future academic years.

Achievement Award Funding & Renewal

The Achievement Award Grant provides up to $3,000 per academic year and is renewable for up to eight consecutive semesters (for First Year Fall 2024 admits) and up to four consecutive semesters (for Transfer Fall 2024 admits) granted the student meets all renewal criteria stated below.

  • Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year
  • Display financial need as calculated by the FAFSA
  • Remain a non-Arizona resident for tuition purposes
  • Continuous, consecutive, full-time enrollment (12+ University of Arizona units) on University of Arizona Main Campus each fall and spring semester

Reinstatements

Students with extenuating circumstances preventing them from meeting the renewal requirements may submit a General Appeal Form  for review by OSFA.

Deferments

  1. Eligibility for this award is a total of eight consecutive semesters (First Year Fall 2024 admits) or a total of four consecutive semesters (Transfer Fall 2024 admits), interrupted only by an approved deferment request from OSFA. To request a deferment for Achievement Award, students should complete the General Appeal Form.
  2. Students are advised to contact the Office of the Registrar in order to determine enrollment eligibility upon return to the University of Arizona.
  3. Semesters for which a student is away from the university and no deferment request has been submitted will count against the total semesters of eligibility.

 Study Abroad

Students may use this award toward costs to participate in an Arizona-Sponsored Study Abroad program.

Students on non-Arizona-sponsored study abroad programs must have an approved Deferment Request from OSFA. To request a deferment for Achievement Award, students must complete the General Appeal Form

Campus Changes

Students must remain enrolled at the University of Arizona Main Campus to receive Achievement Award funding. If a student requests a campus change from the Main Campus to another campus (Arizona Online, Distance, etc.), their Achievement Award will be canceled.

Withdrawal Policy

The Achievement Award is a renewable, need-based institutional award that is held to the Return of Title IV Policy set forth for federal financial aid.
